Mental Health Awareness

I love the month of May for so many reasons. My husband’s birthday is in May, and we got married two days after his birthday. Woot woot. But this blog post is not about all that jolly stuff between my husband and i. No worries though, i will be writing on that very soon.

I want to touch on Mental Health. As a psychology major this is very dear to my heart. Statistics show that over 10 million people in the United States alone suffer from mental health. It is such an important subject that often does not get the “talk” it deserves. Also, those suffering from mental health are not always given the support they need.

Just because someone is not publicly speaking on the struggles they are facing, IT DOES NOT MEAN THEY ARE NOT SUFFERING ON THE INSIDE. Someone could have all the money in the world, for example, Robin Williams. Robin Williams had money, he had friends, he had what most average people wish for, but that did not stop his mental health from causing him to commit suicide. People are committing suicide every day.

All i am trying to say is that let us try to be kind to one another. Let us try to reach out to those who seem sad or depressed. Let us just try.
